Al Aqah is nestled between the Hajar Mountains and the sea. The coral reefs just offshore showcase rare and exotic fish species, making it an ideal spot for scuba diving and snorkeling; plus, advanced divers can explore the nearby shipwreck. Al Aqah is located approximately 87 miles from Dubai International Airport. The area is home to many seaside resorts, including Le Méridien Al Aqah Beach Resort, Fujairah Rotana Resort & Spa and Iberotel Miramar Al Aqah Beach Resort. These resorts offer private stretches of sand and oceanside outdoor pools as well as additional amenities for beachgoers. Le Meridien features a professional dive center, snorkeling trips, water sports and deep sea fishing. Their half- or full-day chartered fishing trips transport anglers aboard a 30-foot twin-engine boat to waters teeming with fish. Anglers have the opportunity to land tuna, kingfish, barracuda or perhaps a small shark. Fujairah Rotana Resort & Spa offers beach volleyball courts, a water sports center and seaside massage cabanas. Rotana also offers professionally-certified dive courses. And Iberotel Miramar has a restaurant right on the beach.
Just a few miles north of Al Aqah is Sandy Beach, where a private hotel of the same name has a large portion of the beach. Swim out to Snoopy Island, named for its striking resemblance to Charles Schulz's cartoon character. A diver's paradise, this marine preserve is renowned for its coral reefs and excellent snorkeling opportunities. View striking and colorful varieties of fish such as puffers, parrot fish and even small barracuda. The Sandy Beach Diving Center is home to a professional training facility that offers a range of diving courses from beginner to advanced; the center rents and sells modern equipment, including Aqua-Lungs. Additionally, custom-made dive boats depart Sandy Beach twice daily, ferrying divers further offshore to some of the best diving sites on Fujairah's coast.
Slightly north of Sandy Beach lies Dibba, Fujairah's second largest town and the northernmost in the emirate. Sometimes spelled Diba, the town is divided between Fujairah and its neighboring emirate of Sharjah. Surrounded by mountains, Dibba's beach is known for its clean, umpolluted waters. Snorkeling and diving are quite popular here. The coral reefs just offshore are among the rarest in the world, hosting a variety of marine life. Cruises, diving and fishing expeditions depart from Dibba Marina daily. Additionally, Dibba's quiet beach is suitable for camping.
