Ramadan Iftar Times in Sydney: 2024 Guide & How to Find Accurate Times

Iftar—the sunset meal breaking the daily Ramadan fast—varies daily based on exact sunset time, which shifts throughout the month. In Sydney, during Ramadan (which moves ~11 days earlier each Gregorian year), iftar typically falls between 5:15 PM and 5:45 PM AEST/AEDT (not 6:30–7:00 PM as sometimes outdated sources state).

Why Precision Matters

• Islamic jurisprudence requires breaking the fast at maghrib (sunset), not before.
• Sydney's latitude (33.9°S) means significant seasonal variation: winter sunset ~4:50 PM, summer ~8:00 PM.
• Ramadan 2024: ~March 11 – April 9 (AEDT ends April 7 → clocks back 1 hr).
