Does Australia have land border disputes?
Australia's only land border is shared with Papua New Guinea, and there are no ongoing disputes over the boundary between the two countries. The border was established by the Anglo-German Agreement of 1884, which defined the boundary between the German protectorate of New Guinea and the British colony of Queensland. Following the First World War, the German colony was transferred to Australia as a League of Nations mandate, and eventually became part of the independent state of Papua New Guinea in 1975.
