Famous Australian Beaches

Australia is well-known for its sand, sun and surf. The beaches in the country are home to resident -- and sometimes professional -- surfers, snorkelers and many tourists from all over the globe. While all Australian beaches are picturesque, these three stand out.
  1. Ninety Mile Beach

    • Australia's Ninety Mile Beach is located in Gippsland in the Melbourne-Victoria area. Named for its 90-mile stretch of unspoiled golden sand, this beach offers photographic opportunities, swimming, dolphin watching excursions and fishing. The Gippsland area also offers tours, coastal drives and other fun activities. When you've finished a relaxing day at the beach, a coastal drive will complete the day.

    Eighty Mile Beach

    • Eighty Mile Beach is located between Port Hedland and Boome in the Western part of Australia. The beach offers a caravan park, bird-watching excursions and the requisite swimming and sand sojourns. Known throughout the world, this beach is famous for its white sand and its preservation. It is also known for its more than 20 species of unique birds.

    Bondi Beach

    • Suburban Sydney's Bondi Beach is a kilometer long and is flanked by lifeguards protecting swimmers and surfers. The beach is close to the nation's capital; tourists can combine tours of landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House with sun and surf at Bondi. The beach is located in Bondi Village, home of a tourist-friendly market and great local cuisine.
