Do elephant live in Sri Lanka or the maldives?

Sri Lanka

Elephants are found in Sri Lanka, but not in the Maldives. Sri Lanka is home to two subspecies of elephants: the Sri Lankan elephant (_Elephas maximus maximus_) and the Sri Lankan pygmy elephant (_Elephas maximus zeylanicus_). The Sri Lankan elephant is larger than the pygmy elephant and is considered to be the largest land animal in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan pygmy elephant is the smallest of the three extant elephant subspecies and is only found in Sri Lanka. Both subspecies are endangered.

The Maldives is a chain of islands in the Indian Ocean and does not have any native elephant populations.
