Australia was once part of the empire.?

Australia was indeed a part of the British Empire. The British colonisation of Australia began in 1788, with the establishment of the first European settlement at Sydney. Throughout the 19th century, Britain established several other colonies in Australia, including New South Wales, Tasmania, South Australia, Victoria, and Western Australia. These colonies were initially governed separately, but in 1901, they federated to form the Commonwealth of Australia. Although Australia is now an independent nation, it still maintains strong historical and cultural ties to Britain.
