Is a birth certificate and valid drivers license appropriate to travel back forth from the US Canada?

A birth certificate and a valid driver's license are not enough to travel between the US and Canada by land or air.

To enter Canada by land, you will also need one of the following documents:

* A U.S. passport

* A U.S. Passport Card

* A NEXUS card

* An Enhanced Driver's License (EDL) issued by New York, Michigan, Vermont or Washington state

* A FAST card

* A SENTRI card

To enter Canada by air, you will need either:

*A valid U.S. passport

*A U.S. Passport Card
