Why is Alberta named Alberta?

The province of Alberta in Canada was named in 1882 by Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald in honor of Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria. Princess Louise married the Marquess of Lorne, Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883.
