Where to find geodes in northern Quebec the Saguenay Lac St Jean area?

There are some important mineral deposits in the Saguenay Lac St-Jean area, but geodes are not one of them. Geodes are hollow rocks of sedimentary or volcanic origin that have concentric layers of mineralization such as quartz, amethyst, or calcite. Their formation generally requires a sequence of geological events of precipitation and evaporation in closed and protected cavities created by bubbles or lava flow.

To date, no scientific discoveries of geodes have been made in the Lac-St-Jean region. However, numerous other sites are known in eastern Quebec, especially near Mont-Joli, Saint-Fabien, and Saint-Honoré-de-Témiscouata.
