Reserve a campsite in the park. There are three in total. Headquarters campground and Wolf Point are located near the water; there is also a campground back in the woods called Cignecto North. Even during the popular summer months, it may be possible to secure a campsite on only a few weeks' notice. Also, there are motels in the nearby town of Alma, which is located on the coast, just outside the park boundary.
Drive to the park. The park is approximately a 12-hour drive north from Boston, with a border crossing at Calais, Maine. Other alternatives are to fly to Monkton or St. Johns in New Brunswick and rent a car from there.
Hike the coastline. There are numerous hiking trails in the park, many of which follow the low mountains that border the Bay of Fundy. The trails alternate between shoreline paths that skirt the tops of rocky cliffs and short ascents to heavily forested summits that provide a nice view of the coast. The Mathew Head trail on the coast is highly recommended.
Hike to a waterfall. There are several waterfalls in the park that can be reached by simple paths through the woods. The waterfalls are not of the Niagara Falls type, but they do consist of small plumes that drop 30 or 40 feet over wet rocks. Third Vault Falls and Dickson Falls are both very enjoyable short hikes.
Hike across a bog on a guided nature trail. Near the western end of the park, there is a self-guided nature trail. The highlight here is the long boardwalk that crosses a large bog. The bog trail is at Caribou Plain.
Go swimming in a lake or a pool. The pool is located near the coastline and is filled with fresh seawater, so the water temperatures are quite refreshing. There is also a freshwater lake on the western edge of the lake that offers good swimming and boating.
Take a guided tour of the coastline in a kayak. Outfitters and guides operate from within and just outside the park in the town of Alma.
Visit the park headquarters and gift shop. The gift shop is well-stocked with lots of interesting literature and postcards about the area. Notices of other activities are posted here, such as campfire programs and guided walking tours.
