The Mackenzie River is located in Canada. It is the largest river in Canada and the second longest river in North America, after the Mississippi River. The Mackenzie River flows through the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, emptying into the Beaufort Sea in the Arctic Ocean. The river is named after Alexander Mackenzie, a Scottish-born explorer who was the first European to travel the entire length of the river in 1789.
