How was Cumberland island formed?
Cumberland Island is a barrier island off the coast of Georgia, USA. It was formed by the accumulation of sand and sediment deposited by the Atlantic Ocean and the St. Marys River. Over time, these deposits formed dunes and barrier islands, including Cumberland Island. The island is constantly changing shape and size due to the ongoing processes of erosion and deposition.
