Self-Guided Tours of the Grand Cayman Islands

Self-guided tours give tourists the flexibility of viewing a destination's attractions and points of interest at their leisure. The Grand Cayman Islands offers tours of popular beaches, woodlands that are millions of years old and regions full of isolated beaches. Download a map of attractions from the Cayman Island Board of Tourism or Caymanactivityguide.com to guide you along the way.
  1. West Bay Tour

    • West Bay, a town on the western peninsula of Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands, features sightseeing attractions and areas of interest marked on tourist maps at Caymanactivityguide.com. Visitors to West Bay may set aside a half day to rent a vehicle and traverse the town's isolated beaches. Your sightseeing tourist map will mark locations such as Boatswain's Beach, home of Cayman's Turtle Farm; Turtle Reef Shore Dive; Pampered Ponies Horseback Riding; and the Pappagallo Bird Sanctuary Lakeside Restaurant.

    Seven Mile Beach

    • At your leisure, walk or take a horseback ride along Seven Mile Beach. Seven Mile Beach is a seven-mile stretch of sand and water lined with resorts, condos, shops, boutiques, bars, restaurants and water sports. The center of Seven Mile is Public Beach. Follow your guide map to find attractions along the way. Start your tour at the eastern end of Seven Mile Beach and end at the isolated Cemetery Beach, where there are picnic tables and canopies of shade trees. Cemetery Beach is known for underwater activity, so bring your snorkeling gear as a finale to hours of beach tours.

    Mastic Trail

    • Located in the midst of 2 million-year-old woodland areas, the Mastic Trail in Grand Cayman cuts through two miles of tropical foliage. The Mastic Trail itself is 200 years old. A variety of habitats--including Black Mangrove wetland, stands of royal palms and silver thatch palms, and an extensive ancient dry forest--are present in the woodlands. The self-guided tour takes approximately 3 hours round trip if you hike the entire trail. Elevation starts at 10 feet and rises to 60 feet, which is the highest point on the island.
