Travel Beaches in Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is a Spanish-speaking island in the Caribbean. According to the Puerto Rico Tourism and Travel Bureau, some of the top reasons to visit Puerto Rico include the outdoor activities available, including kayaking, diving, snorkeling, surfing and hot springs. Many of these activities take place at beaches, where visitors might also enjoy just lounging around and swimming.
  1. Ballenas Beach

    • Ballenas Beach is a breeding ground for manatees.

Ballenas Beach---part of Punta Ballena Reserve, a nature reserve with forests, wildlife---offers snorkeling, surfing and diving. Ballenas Beach features relatively calm water, because it is located in a bay. Because it is a protected reserve, much wildlife can be observed in the water, including turtles and manatees. The beach lies on the Southern Coast of Puerto Rico and has public access by car along the highway.

    Boqueron Beach

    • Boqueron Beach is a beautiful white sand beach with clear water.

Boqueron Beach lies on the edge of a small and friendly village called Boqueron Village. The white sand beach stretches for more than a mile, and the water is calm and clear, making it an ideal location for laying on the beach or swimming. Since Boqueron beach is a popular local hangout as well as a popular tourist destination, its main drawback is that it can sometimes be crowded. It is a good idea for travelers to visit this beach during the week instead of the weekend to avoid crowds when possible.
