The Garifuna people are descendants of West African slaves who were shipwrecked off the coast of St. Vincent in the 17th century. They eventually made their way to Belize, where they have become a vibrant part of the country's culture. Garifuna music, dance, food, and art are all unique and celebrated throughout the country.
