Vacations in Aruba

Aruba is an island in the Caribbean Sea. It is a commonwealth within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, with its own constitution and government. Dutch and Papiamento (a local dialect) are the official languages of Aruba, but most residents also speak English and Spanish; visitors who only speak English will be able to get around quite well. Sport, romantic, family and volunteer vacations are all available in Aruba.
  1. Sport

    • Scuba diving is a popular sport in Aruba, where visitors can see the wreck of the German WWII ship the Antilla, and three reefs. Five resorts have on-site diving: Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort, Divi Dutch Village Resort, Divi Village Golf & Beach Resort, Radisson Aruba Resort Casino & Spa and The Mill Resort & Suites. If you would rather wind-surf, stay at the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino for on-site wind-surfing or nearby at the Boardwalk Vacation Retreat Aruba. Other sports available in the area include swimming, hiking in Arikok National Park, golf, tennis, spelunking in the Fountain or Quadiriki caves and rock climbing.

    Romantic

    • In addition to miles of sandy beaches perfect for strolling and swimming together, couples can enjoy a moonlit dinner on the beach if they stay at the Hyatt, the Westin, the Marriott, the Divi Phoenix, the Bucuti Beach Resort or the Manchebo Beach Resort & Spa. Couples massages are available at the spas at the Marriott and the Radisson and at Intermezzo Day Spa and Spa del Sol. Couples can also enjoy a sunset sail through Pelican Tours, De Palm Tours or Red Sail Sports.

    Family

    • In addition to beach fun, kids will love the water park at the all-inclusive resort on De Palm Island. Families can enjoy snorkeling opportunities at most hotels and kids' clubs at the Marriott, Holiday Inn and the Radisson. Other family fun activities in Aruba include The Butterfly Farm, the Aruba Ostrich Farm and the Donkey Sanctuary Aruba, the iconic California Lighthouse and weekly Bon Bini Festivals.

    Volunteer

    • For those who like to balance their beach time with volunteer work, the Aruba Reef Care Project picks up trash from the beaches and reefs in the area. Those visiting the Donkey Sanctuary Aruba can adopt one of the donkeys or help with feeding and caring for the animals. The Sponsor-a-Mile Program is a monthly beach clean-up program and Coastal Clean-Up day takes place one a year. TurtugAruba volunteers help endangered sea turtles protect their eggs and get their hatchlings to the water.
