What Can You Do in Turks & Caicos Island?

Turks and Caicos is made up of 40 islands and cays, eight of which are inhabited by about 30,000 residents. Often considered part of the Caribbean, the islands are actually in the Atlantic Ocean. English is the primary language.
  1. Beaches

    • Grace Bay Beach is known for its beauty, but near-empty beaches can be found throughout Turks and Caicos. Try North, South and Middle Caicos.

    Scuba Diving and Snorkeling

    • An extensive coral reef system surrounds the islands, making them premier spots for diving and snorkeling. Try French, Pine and Salt cays, Grand Turk and Providenciales.

    Golfing

    • Golfers will find two courses including one designed by the island's governor and built by volunteers. Another course features limestone outcroppings. A minigolf course will let the smallest family members get some golf time.

    Boating

    • There is no shortage of boat charters for diving, fishing, whale watching, sunset cruises and waterskiing.

    Shopping

    • Shops offer everything from designer clothes to works by local artists. Look for jewelry, sculptures, metal works, prints and paintings.

    Other Activities

    • Go bird-watching; 170 species live in the islands. Explore caves, visit the world's only conch farm, see the national museum, and meet JoJo, an Atlantic bottlenose dolphin, one of the few who interacts with humans in his own habitat.
