Turks & Caicos Islands Tourism

The Turks and Caicos Islands are an archipelago located in the West Indies, about 600 miles southeast of Miami, Florida, near the Bahamas. They are a popular tourist destination for people in the US and Canada.

    • There are 40 islands in the archipelago, 8 of which are inhabited. About 30,000 people live on the islands which host about 200,000 tourists each year. People in Turks and Caicos speak English.

    Climate

    • Temperatures average in the low 90s during the summer and low 80s from November to May. Though the hurricane season runs from June to November, the islands enjoy sunshine almost every day of the year.

    Chesire Hall

    • This 200 year old ruin of a cotton plantation is a major tourist attraction here. It is preserved by the National Trust and allows for spectacular views of the sea and the islands.

    Beaches

    • Turks and Caicos are popular for people who love to lounge on the beach or take part in water sports. There are ample opportunities for fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling.

    JoJo the Dolphin and Other Animals

    • JoJo is a dolphin who has lived near the islands since the 1980s who enjoys interacting with people. The local government have proclaimed him a national treasure. Turks and Caicos are also famous for whale watching, marine turtles and large iguanas.
