Can Deodar cedars grow in Trinidad?
Deodar cedar (Cedrus deodara) is native to the Himalayas region of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nepal and Northern India, and is generally not found in Trinidad. This is because Trinidad has a tropical climate, which is not suitable for the growth of Deodar cedars. Deodar cedars prefer cool, moist climates with well-drained soil and ample rainfall. Trinidad has a tropical climate with high temperatures and humidity throughout the year, and the soil is generally clay-based, which is not suitable for Deodar cedars. Additionally, Trinidad is prone to hurricanes and tropical storms, which can cause damage to trees. Deodar cedars are not known to be particularly resistant to strong winds and storms.
