Organized Trips to Cuba

Take a step back in time and witness 1950s-model Buicks cruising the streets and Communist cadres puffing Montecristo cigars on a trip to Cuba. Plan a visit to Cuba during April or May, which is the beginning of the off-season, and rates are cheaper. Once on the island, Cuban pesos and Cuban convertible pesos are the accepted currencies. For exchanging money, U.S. dollars incur steep penalties so trade dollars for euros, Canadian dollars, British pounds or Swiss francs at the airport or bank before entering the island. Also, Cuba does not accept U.S. bank credit cards.

Explore Havana's Old Town district with a stroll across Plaza Vieja and Plaza de la Catedral, surrounded by 17th and 18th century architecture. Visit the Capitolio Nacional, similar in design to the U.S. Capitol building but larger in size, and the Palacio de los Capitanes Generales built in 1792. Fly into Santiago de Cuba for a tour of Cuba's oldest house that was built in 1522. Head to the Caribbean Sea to an UNESCO World Heritage Site at the Fortress of San Pedro del Morro, an exquisitely preserved 17th-century Spanish military complex. In Trinidad, explore an entire town that is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Established in 1514, Trinidad is home to brightly painted homes, cobblestone roads and the Romantic Museum. At the end of the tour, enjoy a relaxing catamaran cruise to the coral key of Cayo Macho for snorkeling and sunbathing on the white sandy beaches.
