Negril, home to the infamous Hedonism II, has long been known for its wide-open atmosphere. Although Sunset at the Palms doesn't advertise itself as gay-friendly, the staff and management are tolerant and look the other way when a same-sex couple shares a room. Many of the guests here are European, and the clientele generally a little older, which leads to a more tolerant approach. The rooms are duplexes, set back into the vegetation. Food service includes a buffet and beach grill. The resort focuses on providing a relaxing atmosphere, closes early and is not known for its nightlife.

The Hotel Mocking Bird Hill is the country's only lodging that prides itself as being gay-owned. The hotel features 10 rooms on 6.5 acres. The property contains organic tropical gardens and trees and is on a hillside. The hotel is independent and owner-run. A complimentary afternoon tea, a holdover from the British colonial days, and free sundowner cocktails are offered every afternoon on the terrace. The hotel does not have air conditioning but due to the elevation it is rarely missed. The lack of televisions and telephones add to the quiet and privacy. The lobby has free Wi-Fi and two computers. The hotel also features a world-class restaurant, recognized by "Gourmet" magazine, whose fusion menu changes daily.
