Where is the amazon rainforest distributed?

The Amazon rainforest spans across several countries in South America, covering millions of square kilometers. Some countries with the largest portion of the Amazon rainforest include Brazil, which contains more than two-thirds of the entire rainforest, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana, a department of France that is geographically isolated from mainland France. Parts of the Amazon also extend into northern Brazil and the state of Mato Grosso do Sul in the midwest region of the country.
