Where in North America do Indians live today?

Native Americans live all across North America, from Alaska to the lower 48 states, and from the East Coast to the West Coast. Additionally, there are some groups of Native Americans who choose to live in Mexico, Central, and South America. According to the 2020 United States Census Bureau, there are an estimated 573,000 American Indians and Alaska Natives living in the United States, while the Government of Canada estimates that 1.6 million First Nations people, Métis, and Inuit (status and non-status) live in Canada.
