States with the Largest Cherokee Populations

The three states with the most Cherokee citizens:

1. Oklahoma: ~200,000 (Cherokee Nation HQ in Tahlequah; major economic force).
2. North Carolina: ~85,000 (Eastern Band HQ in Cherokee; major tourist draw).
3. Georgia: ~55,000 (United Keetoowah Band HQ in Tulsa, OK; second-largest tribe).

These populations trace back to forced removals (Trail of Tears) and historic homelands.
