Is the Czech Republic known for oppression?

The Czech Republic is not known for being an oppressive state. While it was not always peaceful when in a confederation, it currently possesses several mechanisms through which its citizens protect civil and human rights such as the office of the Public Defender of Human Rights as well as other mechanisms such as free elections, an open democracy, a free press, a market economy, an international human rights framework, and multiple judicial review mechanisms.
