Santa in the Czech Republic: Mikuláš

Czech illustrations of Santa depict Mikuláš, a legendary figure who delivers gifts on December 5th (St. Nicholas Eve). He appears as a kind, jolly old man with a long white beard, red robe with white collar and cuffs, and a tall red hat, carrying a sack of presents. Children leave shoes by windows or doors for Mikuláš to fill.
