What are the 5 main land regions of Connecticut?

Connecticut is made up of 5 physiographic or natural land regions which run more or less east to west across the state. From south to north these are:

- The Coastal Lowlands or Southern New England Coastal Plains

- The Central Valley of Connecticut or the Connecticut Valley Lowland

- The Western New England Upland (the highest elevations occur here

- the Eastern New England Upland

- the Taconic Section is only a small part of far northwestern Connecticut
