Are the alps in Italian peninsula?

The Italian Peninsula does not contain the Alps, but Apennines mountain range. The Alps encompass portions of eight Alpine countries: France, Italy, Switzerland, Monaco, Austria, Slovenia, Germany and Liechtenstein.
