Where is Damascus loacted?

Capital city of Syria. Damascus is situated on a plateau with seven hills; the oldest part of the city is in a hollow surrounded by steep banks. The city occupies an excellent geographical location in terms of international crossroads at the convergence of commercial routes between Europe, Asia, and Africa, and was renowned in antiquity—most famously by Classical geographers—as an oasis in the fertile Ghouta region near the convergence of the Barada River with the Hijaz desert to the south.
