How many people live in the Kalahari desert?

There are approximately 1 million people who live in the Kalahari Desert, which is shared between Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa. The majority of the population is made up of indigenous peoples, including the San, Tswana, and Herero people, who have traditionally relied on herding and hunting for sustenance. However, due to increasing urbanization and development in the region, many people now also engage in other economic activities such as tourism, mining, and agriculture.
