Central U.S. States That Do NOT Border the Mississippi River

Of the 12 traditional "Central" states (ND, SD, NE, KS, OK, TX, MN, IA, MO, AR, LA, WI), nine do not touch the Mississippi:

• Colorado
• Kansas
• Nebraska
• New Mexico
• North Dakota
• Oklahoma
• South Dakota
• Texas
• Wyoming

The three that do border it: Minnesota (source), Iowa, Missouri (east bank), plus Arkansas, Louisiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi on the full 10-state river corridor.
