Where was Rome located?

Rome is located in central Italy, on the Italian Peninsula. It lies on the southern edge of the Tiber River, approximately 25km inland from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The city is situated across seven hills, on both banks of the river: Aventine, Caelian, Capitoline, Esquiline, Palatine, Quirinal and Viminal.
