What Is Money Called in Latvia?

Since 1 January 2014, Latvia uses the euro (EUR, €) as its sole legal tender. It was the 18th Eurozone member.

Before that, the currency was the Latvian lats (LVL) (1 lats = 100 santīmi), reintroduced in 1993 after independence from the USSR (replacing the Soviet ruble). The lats was pegged to the euro at 1 EUR = 0.702804 LVL before adoption.
