This is reflected when one greets someone by using the person’s first name as soon as you are introduced. To address someone by their last name may be considered slightly rude. To address a person by both first and last name can sound somewhat formal.
* Greetings between women:
The usual form of greeting between women and between male and female is a quick peck on the cheek, twice -- once on each side. It matters little whether people know one another or not, and this applies even to the work environment.
* Greetings between men:
Men often greet other men with a firm handshake, especially in a business setting. Some men may hug one another in greeting.
A more formal greeting for women and between men and women is a handshake, accompanied by looking the other person in the eye.
