This movement is a decentralized protest movement that began in France on 17 November 2018. The movement protests fuel price hikes and high cost of living. It aims to reduce taxes on fuel and the cost of living, and to increase the minimum wage. The protests are named after the high-visibility yellow vests that protesters are required to wear by law while driving in France.
The protests began in rural areas of France, where people felt they were being left behind by the economic policies of President Emmanuel Macron. The protests quickly spread to urban areas, and have become a major challenge to Macron's presidency.
The Yellow vests movement has been marked by violence and vandalism, and has caused significant disruption to the French economy. The government has responded to the protests by making some concessions, but the movement has continued to grow.
