What are the minerals in Hungary?

Coal

- Hungary has significant reserves of coal, particularly lignite or brown coal. The largest lignite basin is the Mecsek Basin in southern Hungary, which produces around 90% of the country's lignite. Smaller lignite basins are located in the Dorog and Tatabánya regions in northern Hungary.

Bauxite

- Bauxite is an important mineral resource for Hungary. The country is one of the leading producers of bauxite in Europe and has the largest reserves in Central and Eastern Europe. The main bauxite deposits are located in the western and northwestern parts of the country, particularly in the Bakony and Vértes Mountains.

Manganese

- Hungary also has some notable manganese deposits, primarily in the Úrkút area in western Hungary. The Úrkút manganese mine is one of the largest manganese mines in Europe.

Iron

- While not as significant as coal, bauxite, or manganese, Hungary does have iron ore deposits in various locations, including near Rudabánya in northeastern Hungary.

Other Minerals

- Additionally, Hungary has smaller deposits of other minerals such as copper, lead, zinc, gold, and silver in different regions of the country.
