Did kosovar refugees flee to Italy?

Yes, many Kosovar refugees fled to Italy during the Kosovo War. Italy was one of the main destination countries for Kosovar refugees, along with Albania, Macedonia, and Montenegro. The influx of Kosovar refugees into Italy began in March 1999, and by June 1999, there were an estimated 50,000 Kosovar refugees in Italy. The Italian government provided assistance to the refugees, including food, shelter, and medical care. The refugees were also given temporary protection status, which allowed them to stay in Italy until the situation in Kosovo improved.
