Reside in Germany for at least eight years. You must live in Germany, legally, for a minimum of eight years before your request for citizenship can be granted.
Become fluent in German. In order to become a legal citizen of Germany you will need to demonstrate that you are a fluent speaker and can read and write German effectively.
Declare allegiance. In order to become a naturalized citizen, you'll need to formally declare your allegiance to the constitution of Germany.
Attain good employment. The better your current employment in Germany, the better your chances of being accepted as a citizen.
Prove yourself desirable. Before you become a citizen of Germany, you'll have to show that you have never been convicted of any serious crimes in your previous homeland.
Reject your current citizenship. Germany rarely grants requests for dual citizenship. So, to be accepted as a citizen of Germany you'll likely need to revoke your citizenship in any other country.
