Passau's Heilig-Geist-Ausstellungsraum is an interesting oddity: a historical restaurant that is also part of what used to be a Franciscan monastery. But most famous of all is its wine, which comes from a vineyard in neighboring Austria. The Heilig-Geist-Ausstellungsraum began as a place where the poor could live for free in the 14th century, according to Lonely Planet. While it is still a residence, visitors come to look at the historic architecture, try the wine and view artistic exhibitions and shows.
