How to Write a Bucket List

Writing your bucket list doesn't have to be something that you do when you 100 years old and your to old to do half of the things on the list. I think a good time to make a bucket list is when your out of college or your at least 21. By that time you will have at least know what life is about and be able to make a better bucket list. Also you'll know that some of the things on the bucket list won't be able to happen all at once. The purpose of this list is to prepare and plan your life making sure to fill it with plenty of memorable adventures, calculated risks, and potentially life altering experiences.

The first items on your bucket list should be things that you plan to complete or accomplish in the next five years. A 5 year plan that spells out important things to do in short period of time. These things will be career directed such as getting a promotion, reaching a higher pay scale, or changing careers to increase annual income. This part of your life is where you will do your soul searching. My bucket list isn't all about climbing mountains. You have to prepare for that climb and that means getting the right gear, knowledge, and being able to afford to travel.

The next 15-20 years portion of the bucket list should be things that you plan to do when your 18-40 years of age. These things could be something like sky diving, having kids, or getting a college degree. Take calculated risks but don't try to be so extreme that you miss out on other things on your bucket list. The goal is to live a long happy life with plenty of fulfillment.

If your over the hill so to speak or 40+ years of age then I suggest setting your goals towards things like travel, foods, and culture oriented exploration. Visit another country, try some ethnic foods and new types of drinks. See the parts of the world you haven't had a chance to see in the first 40 years of your life. You only get one life so make it count.
