The Best Places to Visit in Greece

Greece reminds us of Roman gods and mythological creatures, castles and beautiful empresses, and there is a lot that you can do in Greece to revisit its rich cultural history. Though very historical, Greece will not be a ride through a museum for you and your family. Located near the coast, there are many tourist spots on different islands that you can visit during your vacation in Greece.
  1. Santorini/Thera

    • Located alongside steep cliffs, Santorini is a perfect combination of topographical marvels and cultural history. Crowded with tourists most of the time, visit this breathtaking locale in early May and June to avoid the rush slightly. There is a prehistoric art museum, golden beaches, excavation sites at Akrotiri, and several historic legends to keep you interested.

      Characterized by white and blue houses, Fira is this island's capital, and you can find tempting food and beautiful locales here. There are water sports for the adventurous and historical sites for the intellectual or those interested in art and culture.

    Rhodes

    • The medieval town of Rhodes (Rodos) was created by the Knights of St. John. The Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, is located here. The ruins of the Temple of Athena are located in Lindos, which is a must-see for all who visit Rhodes.

    • Meteora is a natural work of art. With the awe-inspiring sculpture looking like it was carved out of nature's hand, this is a must-see spot for everyone visiting Greece. The rock formations comprise sandstone deposits, sediments that were deposited and layered on top of each other through years of rivers and streams flowing through the area.

      According to Greek history, Meteora was a sanctuary for monks and hermits who found protection, and great peace and solitude among the artistic rock sculpture.

    • Delphi is a famous archaeological excavation site in Greece. The ancient people of Greece considered Delphi to be the center of the world and the famous Oracle was known for its accurate predictions. Delphi became a place of pilgrimage and has a sanctuary, which is regarded as a place of worship.

      Must-see spots in Delphi include the Temple of Apollo, the Delphi museum, the Tholos and treasuries of the Athenians. The Charioteer statue in the Delphi museum is a famous statue that represents the classic times that it was made in.
