The percentage of Muslims in Romania is relatively small. According to the 2011 Romanian census, only 0.3% of the population identified as Muslim. This is equivalent to around 65,000 people out of a total population of over 21 million. The vast majority of Romanians are either Orthodox Christian (86.5%) or Roman Catholic (5.8%).
