Beaches Near Lorient, France

Lorient is located on the northwest tip of France off the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Since it has always been a major seaport for the region of Brittany, tourists flock to its shorelines for the multitude of public beaches.

    • For families with pets, there are several options of beaches in the Lorient area. Plage du Loch is noted for its acceptance of animals, its vast parking lot for housing tourists with families, and its lifeguard supervision, available during July and August.

      Plage du Bas Pouldu is another beach that is accepting of pets. It also has convenient handicapped access and has a protective barrier to keep out large waves, ideal for families with small children.

    Staying Close to the Action

    • There are several beaches in Lorient that are located in close proximity to bars and restaurants, ideal for the younger set of tourists. Plage de Port-Maria is known as the central beach for activity and recreation in the city. There are many restaurants nearby, and there are "kids clubs," centers at which children do activities.

      Plage du Fort-Bloque is situated in a popular tourist spot due to its proximity to camping areas. This beach area is patrolled during July and August, with instructors providing assistance and private lessons for surfers.
