Villas in Salemi, Sicily

Salemi is in the southwestern Sicily province, Trapani, and features historic 15th and 16th century architecture in its town center, including the College of the Jesuits. Rather than staying in a commercialized hotel, tourists can opt for authentic Sicilian villa accommodations. Such villas can be found within 30 minutes of Salemi.     • Situated in Castelvetrano, the Villa Mimosa is a 25-minute drive south of Salemi. This villa features three bedrooms. The rooms offer private bathrooms, sleeper sofas and views of the villa's private courtyard. The villa also has an apartment unit with a living room and kitchen. The courtyard has a garden and patio area where guests can enjoy their breakfast. Breakfast is prepared by the family who own and operate the villa. Other dining spots include a veranda in front of the house-when the weather is pleasant-and an indoor dining room. A common room is available for group gatherings.

      The villa is less than 15 minutes from Castelvetrano's Old Town district, which features the Piazza Garibaldi, a town square with 16th century architecture, and the 19th century Teatro Selinus, a theater with its original stage intact. Markets, shops and small local eateries are within the Old Town District. A 12th century church, Santa Trinita di Delta, is a 20-minute drive from the villa.

    Villa Altair

    • The Villa Altair is in Mazara del Vallo, approximately 30 minutes southwest of Salemi, and is less than 10 minutes from beaches on the Mediterranean Sea. This villa is also a five-minute drive from specialty shops and restaurants in Mazara del Vallo's town center; many of the restaurants offer wine from the vineyards of southwestern Sicily's wine country. The city also features marinas for fishing and boating.

      The villa has five bedrooms with private bathrooms and they offer views of the Sicilian countryside. The rooms also provide views of the villa's inner courtyard, which features flowers and a seating area. Breakfast is provided by the villa's staff and guests have option of dining in the courtyard or a dining room. The courtyard also has trees with edible fruit, including limes, olives and pomegranates. An outdoor swimming pool is available for guests.
