Aviano, Italy Tourism Information

Situated at the base of the Dolomites Mountain range, Aviano, Italy, sits only half an hour from snow skiing in Piancavallo and an hour from the Adriatic Sea. Aviano residents and visitors can reach Venice in about an hour by train or car, but the town itself has plenty to see and do.
  1. Aviano Air Base

    • Well known for its air base, Aviano is home to the Aviano Air Base, operated by the United States Air Force and home to the the 31st Fighter Wing. The two F-16 squadrons in the 31st Fighter Wing conduct regional NATO operations, according to the Aviano Air Base website.

    Golf

    Castle of Aviano

    • On a hill just outside the city sits the remains of the Castle of Aviano. As City Round states, the Renaissance-style church Santa Maria e Giuliana used to be part of the castle, but all that remains on the property are two towers, the mastio and walls.
