Norway in a Nutshell captures the best of Norway's spectacular scenery in a single day. The tour begins in the quaint harbor city of Bergen; visitors board the train for a trip through mountainous terrain to Myrdal. The next leg, from Myrdal to Flam, is aboard the Flam Railway, through spectacular mountain scenery including waterfalls, deep ravines and snow-capped peaks. Guests may descend to hear the thundering water of the Kjosfossen waterfall during a brief stop in Aurland. The trip continues with a two-hour cruise along the still waters of the Sognefjord. Mountains tower 5,600 feet high along these waters, and at one point the passage between them is only 820-feet wide. The scenery includes small avalanches close to the peaks and stunning waterfalls cascading down black rocks. The boat docks in Gudvangen, where a bus takes visitors up an impossibly steep road between waterfalls with heights of 400 feet to the village of Stalheim. A stop at the Stalheim Hotel offers the opportunity for photos with this incredible scenery as a backdrop. The bus descends to Voss for a final train trip back to Bergen.
