In 2019, a large great white shark was caught by fishermen off the coast of County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland. The shark was estimated to be around 16 feet (4.9 meters) long and weighed over 2,000 pounds (907 kilograms).
Prior to this incident, there were other reported sightings and catches of great white sharks in Irish waters, including one caught off the coast of County Clare in 2017 and one captured in a fishing net off the coast of County Kerry in 2015.
However, it's important to note that great white shark encounters in Irish waters are relatively rare compared to other parts of the world where the species is more commonly found.
