Why are there so many different colours on the doors of Georgian buildings in Dublin Ireland?

Georgian doors in Dublin are not actually multi-coloured. However Dublin doors are known to be many different colours. Historically, people would paint their doors a certain colour to signify something particular about their home. For example, a black door would indicate that someone mourning lived in the house, a blue door would indicate a house that sold fish and a red door would indicate a brothel.
