Natural Disasters

• 1987 Great Storm (Oct): Hurricane-force gusts (180 km/h), 18 dead, 300k+ without power, millions of trees down.
• 1998 Flooding (Oct–Nov): Record rainfall – Shannon, Erne, Liffey basins; 1,000+ homes evacuated, €100M+ damage.

• 1972 & 1974 Dublin Bombings: IRA – 3 dead, 100+ injured (1972); 2 dead, 200+ injured (1974).
• 1998 Omagh Bombing: Real IRA – 29 dead (incl. pregnant woman, children), 220 injured – deadliest single Troubles incident.
