Train Stations Near Baumholder Germany

Baumholder is a town and municipality in the district of Birkenfeld, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Situated south of the Hunsrück mountain range, Baumholder is home to the largest concentration of U.S. combat soldiers outside the United States. The U.S. Army Garrison Baumholder consists of Smith Barracks (the main post) and support teams at Strassburg in Idar-Oberstein and at Neubrücke. Approximately 12,000 U.S. military personnel live in the town. There are no train stations in Baumholder.

    Heimbach (Nahe)

    • Heimbach is the nearest train station to Baumholder. It is about 5 miles away and is on the 322 bus route. Trains to Frankfurt Airport take between two and three hours and involve at least one change.

    Idar-Oberstein

    • Direct trains from Idar-Oberstein to Frankfurt take about an hour and a half. The bus route 320 connects Idar-Oberstein to Baumholder, which is about 7 miles away.

    Neubrücke

    • Trains from Neubrücke, some 25 miles from Baumholder, to Frankfurt take between one and three quarter hours and two hours, depending on whether a change is necessary. Like Heimbach, Neubrücke is on the 322 bus route.
